Toast To Your Girls!

I just finished watching a video from a lecture class at Stanford University. The lecture was on the mind-body connection - the relationship between stress and disease. The speaker (head of psychiatry at Stanford) said, among other things, that one of the best things that a man could do for his health is to be married to a woman, whereas for a woman, one of the best things she could do for her health was to nurture her relationships with her girlfriends.

At first everyone laughed, but he was serious.

Women connect with each other differently and provide support systems that help each other to deal with stress and difficult life experiences. Physically this quality “girlfriend time" helps us to create more serotonin - a neurotransmitter that helps combat depression and can create a general feeling of well being. Women share feelings whereas men often form relationships around activities. They rarely sit down with a buddy and talk about how they feel about certain things or how their personal lives are going. Jobs? Yes. Sports? Yes. Cars? Yes. Fishing, football, golf? Yes. But their feelings? Rarely.

Women do it all of the time. We share from our souls with our sisters/mothers/best friends, and evidently that is very good for our health. He said that spending time with a friend is just as important to our general health as jogging or working out at a gym.

There's a tendency to think that when we are "exercising" we are doing something good for our bodies, but when we are hanging out with friends, we are wasting our time and should be more productively engaged, this however is not true. In fact, he said that failure to create and maintain quality personal relationships with other humans is as dangerous to our physical health as smoking!

So every time you hang out to schmooze with a gal pal, just pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for doing something good for your health! We are indeed very, very lucky. So, let's toast to our friendship with our girlfriends. Evidently it's very good for our health. :)

The Chain Gang

So, my friends are evil and secretly hate me because they actually believe that they can force me into getting my nipples pierced. Why, you say, would they want to force such a torturous event on someone as sweet and innocent as I? They say its not because they want me to cry and scream bloody F-ing murder (though I'm sure they'd find that great entertainment), but so we can call ourselves the Chain Gang.

Like I'd actually volunteer to be part of a group that threads a chain through all their nipple rings. Yeah, not so much. You can hunt me down and haul me out, but you can't make me!

Ok, so they're not really going to link themselves with chains. But those in the group who have yet to pierce their nipples are going down town to get em done. I told them I'd get my belly button pierced and they were all "Thats not good enough" and I was all "Well fine then! You can just kiss my shiny lil ass!"......I should have known better with these people. Almost got depants right then and there.

So yeah, its my new I'd rather... Like I'd rather get my nipples pierced than suck face with you. Its now up there with, I'd rather be stung in the eye by a bee, or I'd rather sandpaper a croc's ass in a phone booth, or I'd rather shave my legs Cabin Fever style, or......Ok, your turn, what are your I'd rathers?

Also, while I wasn't here, I was over Here.

Lace, Pearls, and Animal Print

It's been a long time since I updated my chictopia. I don't know I just don't feel like posing in front of the camera these days, since I fell in love in taking pictures of any human interest, my surroundings, or in short photography, that I forgot to have a photo of myself taken. And just this afternoon I was reminded about updating my chictopia.

so here, finally, I had a new photo of me taken. In this outfit, I mixed some of my favorite items in the fashion world - lace, pearls, and animal print.

Wandering Thoughts

So, wanna come inside my head?...Don't run! Come on back here. It's not that bad. Just, try not to get lost, its easy to do, trust me. Try to keep up and you'll be fiiinnne....really....yeah.

  • I need a new post idea.

  • But, I'm having this AWESOME inability to concentrate right now.

  • My mind is working at high speed.

  • Maybe I'm a genius but I can't portray it because I think too fast. (Evil grin appears on face for no obvious reason to the outside world)

  • Ha, that could be my special gift. "What's your super power?" "Genius bitch!"

  • I'm a dork.

  • I wonder if I have any new comments on my last post... (Raise your hand if you're guilty)

  • I love paper. Fresh new notebook. That's hot.

  • I hate Paris Hilton.

  • I need more notebooks...and light bulbs.

  • Light bulbs...ding, new idea.

  • Music!

  • Ah I hate that song. Stop.

  • ....in the name of love, before you break my heart...

  • I can never remember the rest of that stupid song.

  • I'll Google it.

  • Come over to myspace so I can twitter your yahoo 'til you google on my facebook.

  • Damn it. Every time I think or hear Google.

  • ...

So obviously, I couldn't come up with anything...and this is what you get. Hope you enjoyed the trip. I'll try to come up with something worth reading soon...I hope...

Cheapy Shoesy

Don't mind the title, just playing with words and I think it does sound funny, doesn't it?  so, hey recently I bought my two definitely the cheapest but nice shoes I ever had. They're cheap because I bought them in Baclaran, despite the horrible MRT experience I had (check it here.) when we went there, I am still happy for the things I bought. It's definitely worth it. haha!

 php 180

look it's denim. php 250

Since I bought them in Baclaran, I wouldn't expect much of the quality. I would probably wear these when I go out that doesn't require much walking. e.g. watch a movie or have merienda. How I wish I could post outfit photos wearing these shoes. Maybe next time! :)

Anyway, Did you know that you could even buy them at lesser price, that is if you buy them in wholesale. Meaning you have to buy at least six pcs. of the same style and color. sayang! pwede na sana if different style and color. But a very good deal for those who have a business. Now, that made me think if I should have one? hhhmmmm.

Dance Like A Ballerina

Tutu is a skirt worn as a costume in a ballet performance, often with attached bodice. But nowadays tutu can be worn as an everyday item and on special occasions. For me, I find tutu really gorgeous and cute.

So here I want to show you the tutu that I made for my daughter. It's actually a "no sew tutu,"  the moment I saw it on youtube, I thought it looks pretty interesting. The fact that it doesn't need sewing, I decided to make one for my daughter.

I chose the colors Pink, Blue, and White.

She loves it. She asked me if she looks more like a fairy or ballerina.

Here's the youtube vid where I got the idea from, In case you might want to make one. I swear it's pretty simple and fun.

Oh by the way, I already got a new camera, remember how pissed I was when my smartphone got stolen and and at the same time my digicam got broken too? so now, a one big YAY! for me. It's a Nikon D3100 and so far, I'm lovin it. I hope it will stay with me for a long time. :) cam, please stay with me,okay?

My sab taking a photo of herself. cool! :)

My MRT experience

The other day my sisters-in-law and I went to Baclaran, my second time to go there, the first was like years ago. We decided to go early in the morning around 6 am so that it wouldn't be that hot, unlike during the afternoons. It was Monday, and my first time to ride on a MRT that early. At first I was quite excited because it would be like an adventure for us, since we were all new to buying wholesale stuff at Baclaran. Well my sister-in-law by the way, will open a shop that's why we went there to look for something she could sell. sounds exciting right? and me on a motive of hitching some blouses to add on her business stuff and pay for the wholesale price. great!

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about what happened to us in Baclaran but I'm here to talk about what happened before we arrived Baclaran. The excitement totally dropped zero when we arrived the MRT North station. It was jam-packed with people. The lines are sooo damn long. I got really disappointed because MRT, I thought is a convenient mode of transportation. I felt really bad especially for the people who ride the train everyday like the students who go to school, and the workers who go to the office, and etc. I thought it would really take so much of their time and energy. My experience wasn't only physically stressful but also mentally.

Stressful because of some reasons which I personally observed/experienced during the entire trip:

1. People were pushing one another during the train stop just to get ahead of others, as in pushing that would literally hurt you.
2. And since people were pushing one another, some got really mad like the lady I heard shouting "wala na, hindi na kasya." and another lady, "ano ba, huwag mo ko itulak."
3. Once I got into the train, I felt we were packed like in a can of sardines. It was seriously full and crowded.
4. During the train stop people were rushing to go out of the train, at the same time others wanted to get in. the result? funny squeezed faces esp. the people who were in the middle of those two opposing bodies. sigh. wrong, not funny at all.
5.  A girl sitting right in front of a pregnant woman. (seriously? what are you? please be considerate naman.)
6. I heard some music coming from the two ladies on my left and the other one at my back whom were listening to pop and rock music through their headsets respectively. That's how loud their music or maybe that's how siksikan we were.
7.  I saw lesbian lovers doing PDA. sorry, but I don't think it's appropriate and comfortable for other people to see, including me! or is it just me?
8. It was hard standing that long, I got to sit like we were already at Ayala station. I'm the kind of person who would rather walk than stand for a long time.

So to all the workers and students who ride the MRT everyday, I salute you! you guys are really inspiring because you are all willing to make that sacrifice just to finish school or to make money for living.

To the government, please act for a quick solution for that.

And to all the MRT riders, can you just please learn how to follow basic and simple rules.

*too bad I wasn't able to take photos of it. :(

Composer at the Age of Four

At the age of 4, my baby girl can now compose songs.

she has two versions, one for the morning and one for the evening, both of which sounded like the song twinkle twinkle little star.

morning song:

Baby baby, wake up now.
Go downstairs and eat your food.
and go to the bathroom and take a bath.
brush your teeth and put on some clothes.
that's what we do in the morning.

evening song:

Baby baby, go to sleep.
close your eyes and zip your mouth.
insert your t-shirt and pray to God.
say I love you to mommy and daddy and to baby brother too.
that's what we do in the night.

cute and funny, isn't she? so proud of her.

love you baby. :)
